Episode 11: Andrea Ferretti – Four Ways Hitting a Plateau Can Deepen Your Yoga Practice

Hello everyone,

This week I’m stoked to share a bit of my own writing/thoughts with you. It’s a quick episode and I hope you enjoy it. The topic is one that is dear to my heart: So often when we hit a plateau in an endeavor, we feel like it must be time to give up. It feels like a signal of failure or boredom or a lack of growth.

But since yoga is as much about the mind as it is about the body, I feel that a plateau is really a golden opportunity to deepen your practice. Give it a listen and please let me know what you think!

“You’re not perfect. That’s the bad news. But the good news is you don’t have to be to have a beautiful, effective, long-term yoga practice.” — Andrea Ferretti

  1. episode 11: probably my most favorite yogaland podcast! relatable … and the nod to anna quindlin’s speach – so good. thanks for this, andrea~

    • Awesome. So nice to hear. Thank you, Jonathan!

  2. Thank you Andrea. This is really helpful. Sometimes, we think we are alone in experiencing all these emotions, and it’s good to be reminded we’re not. Thank you for putting it so eloquently, and simply, into perspective. Very helpful 🙂

    • Thanks for listening, Vanessa! What your articulated is exactly why I started the podcast — I feel like we all need reminders (including myself) that we’re all in this together. So happy to connect with you. Andrea

  3. I listened this episode at least 5 times already . It’s short and so powerful. Thank you

    • Thank you, Vicki! I’m so happy that it’s helpful.

  4. Thank you Andrea. The word “PLATEAU” immediately caught me. Some years back one of my mysore teacher brought this word to me when I experienced deep deep plateau in one of my poses. I recalled those painful times, both mentally and physically. Still I brought myself to the mat everyday without fail. I began to feel peace within whenever that plateau pose arrived. Before I can even remember, one day this plateau was behind me. I know this is certainly not the last one. The plateau simply makes my mind and body stronger. I love your podcast, thank you for sharing.

    • Thank you so much for sharing, Emily! It feels great to know that it spoke to you. Warmly, Andrea

  5. Thanks Andrea for this awe-inspiring talk. It helps me a lot!
    Thanks Mara

    • I’m so happy to hear that, Mara! Thank you for letting me know. Warmly, Andrea
