FAQs

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Do I have to do all three modules in sequential order?

No! The modules are designed with flexibility in mind. You can do them in any order and at your own pace.

Do I have to do all three modules within the same calendar year and at the same location?

No, you do not have to do them within the same calendar year. We understand how challenging it can be to get that much time off.

You may also do the modules at different locations.

Can I do a portion of a two-week training module or am I required to do the whole thing?

Typically, we don’t allow people to attend only a portion of a training. However, if there is still space available a week or two prior to a training we may consider an exception.

SCHEDULE

What time does the training start and end each day?

In San Francisco, the training hours are 8:45-5:30 M-Friday and 1pm-7pm on Saturdays. Sundays are off.

In London, the training hours are 8:45-5:30pm M-Saturday. Sundays are off. Please note, there is typically one workshop on the first Friday night of the program that you will also participate in. This workshop is open to the public, but there is no extra cost to you if you’re enrolled in the training.

COURSE CONTENT

What qualifications do I need to join the program?

This program is for teachers that have already completed a 200-hr training course OR dedicated students that have practiced consistently for a minimum of 5 years.

Is perfect attendance required? What if I need to miss a part of a module?

You must complete all of the hours to receive your 300-hr certification. There are ways to make up hours if you need to miss some days of the program. Please feel free to email Jason at [email protected] for a consultation about your particular situation.

How many students attend your trainings? How much access to Jason will I have during the training?

Between 40-55 students. Jason typically also has 2-3 assistants to ensure that all of the participants have the support they need.

What can I expect during each day of the training?

Each morning is dedicated to your practice. We will begin with 15 – 30 minutes of seated meditation that will allow you to settle in to your practice and bear witness to whatever is present for you. The seated practice is followed by a strong, intelligently sequenced vinyasa practice that will allow you to experience your physical edge and grow as a practitioner. You’ll simultaneously deepen your practice by working on advanced postures and their modifications, and enhance your teaching by assisting and adjusting your peers. You’ll learn to work with your own body in a more skillful, effective and efficient way in order to build depth in your practice for years to come.

Each afternoon is dedicated to becoming a more knowledgeable, skillful and insightful teacher. You will work on every aspect of teaching, from learning greater depth in anatomy, injury prevention, and intelligent sequencing for each region of the body to using purposeful, impactful language when you provide instructions. The afternoon will reflect the practice theme of the day and you will learn to teach the experienced level classes that you’re practicing. You will also generate sequences and teach segments of classes to receive Jason’s direct feedback and guidance.

Is there a required reading to do before the training?

I have a complete, detailed reading list that you will receive within 10-days of registering for this program. I will also send you a digital copy of my fully illustrated, professionally designed teacher-training manual. You will receive a physical copy of the manual on the first day of the program.

Do I have to read all the books before the program starts?

No. Each module has separate reading so that you’re not overwhelmed!

Are there discussion questions that go with the reading?

Yes. The best way to read this content is with reflection and discussion questions in mind. Yoga texts are meant to serve as points of reflection. I will provide you with reflection questions for each reading to help provide you structure and contextualization.

Where can I purchase the books?

All of the books on the reading list are available online. Many of them are easily accessible in various bookstores including the boutique at each triyoga location.

Is there homework during the training?

There is no homework to be completed during the training dates, but there is approximately 10 hours of homework to be done between each module.

Are there additional assignments?

You will have several assignments between the modules. The assignments between the modules will help maintain the continuity of the program and support your self-study. You won’t have any assignments during the modules.

CERTIFICATION

If I have a 200-hr Yoga Alliance certification, will this qualify me for a 500-hr certification?

Yes! This 300-hr, Advanced Curriculum will qualify you for Yoga Alliance’s 500-hr certification.

What are the requirements for certification?

You must complete all 300-hrs in order to receive the complete 300-hr certificate. You can talk to Jason directly if you have a scheduling conflict and need to miss some hours of the program. Depending on your schedule, it may be possible to make up the hours. Please feel free to email Jason at [email protected] for a consultation about your particular situation.

If I don’t have a 200-hr Yoga Alliance certification, will this qualify me for a 200-hr certification?

Yes! Yoga Alliance has 2 official designations for teacher-training programs, a 200-hr certification and a 500-hr program. If you do not already have a 200-hr certification, you must do a minimum of 2 Modules to qualify for a 200-hr certification.

Will this program qualify me for certification with Yoga Alliance UK?

Yes. But, Yoga Alliance UK has an odd process for certification. They state on their website that programs Yoga Alliance UK does not recognize the standards presented by Yoga Alliance. They also state, that they DO recognize the standards presented by Yoga Alliance, but you need to pay extra to register with them if you’ve done a Yoga Alliance registered program instead of a Yoga Alliance UK program. So, the bottom-line is this: Yoga Alliance UK will allow you to register with them at an additional fee. This may or may not be worth it depending on whether your studio requires it. Most studios DO NOT require Yoga Alliance UK certification, just Yoga Alliance.
