Jason's articlesI'm always surprised when people say to me, "so, you're a yoga teacher and a writer. what's that like?" My mind will calibrate the answer as well as it can, but, inevitably, it gets confused about the "writer" part. Failing to compute, I'll say, "umm, yes, I teach yoga, but I'm not a writer." They'll respond, "but I've read a bunch of your articles in Yoga Journal, as well as other snippets here and there. So, yes, you are a writer." Once my not-so-deep memory is joggled, I think of all those articles-the ecstasy and agony of each-and say, "oh, yes, yes, yes those articles. Yes, I wrote those articles, but, really, I'm just a teacher that writes, not a writer that writes."
As I look at what appears below, I realize that its time to face the facts. I am a writer-even if I'm mainly a teacher. I hope these articles help you in your practice.

Press Quotes about Jason
 |
Yoga Journal, Contributing Editors page, October 2005
"Yoga is the perfect opportunity to be curious about who you are,'" says Jason Crandell, 2005 columnist for Basics. Crandell, who studied mainly with Rodney Yee and Richard Rosen, has a knack for explaining extremely subtle body movements in ways that anyone can understand. With his low-key charm and deadpan humor, Crandell puts students at ease right away. He suggests that readers us his columns the way an amateur cook might use a recipe: literally at first, then as a starting point for improvisation."
